YOUTH NEWS
There is an Informational Educational Meeting/ Youth Ministry meeting planned for Tuesday, June 16, at 6:30 PM to discuss Nursery, Sunday School, GEMS, Cadets, ALIENS, LIZARDS. The meeting will be in the Lighthouse.
ANYONE who is part of a Youth Group, or ever has been, is encouraged to come. ANYONE who has a heart for the youth and their mentoring needs should plan to be there! ANYONE involved in Youth Ministries, ANYONE who has children in youth ministries, ANYONE who has gifts and talents (all of us!) and ANYONE who would like to share their wisdom and experience—Please join us!
EVERYONE is invited to come listen to and share ideas—and there are several ideas in the planning stages. We will be talking about last year, what is in store for this coming fall season—beginning with summer vacation activities (recruiting/sharing).
COME and share the vision and join the excitement for the ‘future’ and very real ‘present’ members of our congregation.
SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
Thinking Ahead to Next Year
Over the next few weeks, please prayerfully consider getting involved with our Sunday School Ministry in the fall. We will have several opportunities available, including SUNDAY SCHOOL COORDINATOR, group leaders, snack helpers, music leaders, and classroom helpers.
LIZARDS – (Living In Zion As Real DiscipleS) – HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
There will be a high school Sunday School Heidelberg Catechism class this fall.
ALIENS – (Adolescents Living In Eager New Service)
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP (6TH-8TH grade)
We finished the school year with the 30-Hour Famine!! Everyone should definitely join us next year as it is a very educational 24 hours that is spent together, and who wouldn't want to
spend the night in the church basement with a bunch of middle school kids! The night went very well with all 8 of us finishing the fast. The total amount raised is not available yet but it will be in the bulletin when we know the amount.
We focused on the gift of service this year. The ALIENS were busy with school activities but were still able to do the following: washing feet (ask an ALIEN), bake sale for World Hunger, cleaned the book racks on the church pews, offered to cut Christmas trees, Mystery Irish dinner for the Seniors/widows/widowers, puppet drama for children's message, and the 30-Hour fast.
This summer we would like to get together for some fun activities but we can't promise anything due to schedule conflicts. We look forward to meeting again next fall. Pray for our youth as they seek to follow what God desires of them! –
